June 17, 2011 marks the 40th Anniversary of President Richard Nixon's declaration of a war on drugs. Since then, America's prison population has become the largest in the world and over 1.6million arrests for drug offenses are made each year - half of those arrests being for marijuana. It’s also become a war on music lovers. The Rave Act continues to target the electronic music scene and festivals like Camp Zoe have been shut down. Students for Sensible Drug Policy will host a discussion to inform participants about all aspects of the drug war, alternatives to current policies, and how you can get involved. Please join the discussion, " A War on Us: Why the war on drugs effects everyone", on Saturday from 4:30-5:30pm in the Soulshoine Tent.
